Technology Integrator
The Lower School Technology Integrator at Chapin is a creative, collaborative, and inspiring innovator whose skills and passion for working with Lower School students and their teachers motivates stakeholders toward achieving Chapin's vision for technology in the Lower School. The ideal candidate enjoys the exuberance and curiosity of children; has earned a solid understanding of children’s academic, social, and emotional development; and possesses knowledge of current technology, Maker practices, computer programming, and robotics. Excellent collaboration skills are critical, as this position requires working closely with grade-level teachers and other content-area specialists.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to

meeting with faculty regularly to understand ongoing projects and curriculum;

acting as guide and coach for all faculty, by encouraging, inspiring, and supporting them in the exploration of innovative and purposeful uses of technology;

following the SAMR model, collaborating with classroom teachers to advance the curriculum through technology integration;

providing strategic professional development to improve teacher technical skills and understanding of robotics;

developing, teaching, and assessing technology skills and digital citizenship curriculum to Lower School students to support integration;

communicating about technology initiatives and progress to families and colleagues in other divisions to ensure consistency and continuity across the School.
Ideal candidates possess a master's degree and at least 3-5 years successful classroom teaching experience with children aged 5-9; technical knowledge of networks, computers, operating systems, and computer science pedagogy; and demonstrated interest in inquiry-based curricula and the design thinking process.
We prefer candidates who have specific experience in 3D Design and Printing, Coding and Programming (LEGO Robotics – Mindstorm, WeDo Circuitry & Engineering, Arduino and Raspberry Pi).
Finally, we seek candidates who possess strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with other faculty and administrators, as well as flexibility, motivation, strong organization skills, a sense of humor, and a demonstrated commitment to cultural competency work.
