Under the direction of the site administrator, to provide an educational program for students; to assist in other school programs and activities as part of the professional responsibilities; to perform other adjunct duties as assigned, and to do other related work as required.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Personnel in this job classification may perform any combination of the essential duties shown below.

  • Provides an instructional program as defined by district Standards of California State Standards, using the adopted curriculum, for assigned students.

  • Implements administrative regulations and procedures as defined in Board policy.

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide planned experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize instructional time. 

  • Utilizes the appropriate instruction techniques, activities, strategies, and supplemental materials that will adapt the curriculum to the needs of individual students and be consistent with District goals.

  • Evaluates, maintains records of academic and social growth of students.

  • Communicates with parents regarding student progress and to interpret the school program.

  • Collaborates with other faculty members regarding the progress of individual students.

  • Identifies the needs of students and collaborates with other relevant faculty members in assessing and resolving health, attitude and learning problems.

  • Administers mandated tests in accordance with District and State testing requirements.

  • Fulfills assigned responsibilities for student supervision.

  • Participates in curriculum, staff meetings, and other developmental programs within the assigned school and on a District level.

  • Plans and supervises the work of instructional aides, as required.

  • Participates in the outdoor education program, as required.

  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment. 

  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a desirable learning atmosphere which provides physical and psychological security.

  • Prepares and submits all required reports and information as required, in a timely manner.

  • Keeps academic and behavioral records, prepares progress reports and report cards, and maintains cumulative folders, as required.

  • Maintains professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Credential and/or License:
Possession of:

  • Valid California Teaching Credential(s)
  • English Language Authorization
  • No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Certificate of Compliance
  • CBEST

Education:
Possession of a Baccalaureate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
Successful completion of student teaching experience in an accredited college or university, or qualification in an internship program.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Principles, theories, methods, techniques and strategies pertaining to teaching instruction of multi-age students.

  • Child growth and development, and behavioral characteristics.

  • Educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to educational programs.

  • Behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures.

  • Socio-economic and cultural differences in the school community.

Ability to:

  • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions.

  • Plan, organize, develop, and conduct a comprehensive instructional program.

  • Effectively assess the educational needs of students, and design, develop, and implement sound educational plans.

  • Provide and promote an environment that is conducive to learning.

  • Perform research and development activities pertaining to programs designed to enhance student performance.

  • Communicate with parents and students in a sensitive manner.

  • Work with a diverse population of students.

  • Maintain a strong belief system that all children can learn.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Site Administrator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be in accordance with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the District and Campbell Elementary Teacher’s Association.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's policies and procedures, and the existing contract between Campbell Union School District and Campbell Elementary Teacher’s Association.

While performing the essential functions and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and talk to hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
