St. George’s Independent School seeks a passionate, entrepreneurial, and hard-working individual who is energized by work with families to serve as Librarian and Educational Integration Technologist beginning August 2019. Duration: Annual Letter of Agreement

Minimum Education: M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. in Library Science or M.A.T. in K-12 Library Science

Attributes for Success:

  • Enthusiasm for middle school students, upper school students, and adult learners

  • Desire and ability to create relationships with faculty to co-plan and teach research skills, digital citizenship, and a love of literature

  • Ability to support the review and alignment of technology resources and applications to create a consistent experience for students

  • High proficiency of and interest in emerging educational technology to advise for best use for faculty and student needs and school-wide use

  • Capacity to work collaboratively with partner librarian and technology team to proactively problem solve, keeping students’ needs first

  • Interest in promoting the library through parent partnerships, marketing events, and partnering with outside organizations

  • Function as a liaison with teachers, administration, and technology team to ensure seamless coordination of technology tools supporting curriculum, instruction, and assessment

  • Assertive and joyful (pleasantly persistent) pursuit of partnerships with faculty to improve technology integration and knowledge of best practices

Experience and Abilities:

  • K-12 Library experience

  • Experience in Apple hardware, Mac OS and iOS software, and G Suite for Education

  • Plan for and teach classes for adults and children using best practices to master learning objectives

  • Partner with English teachers to create summer reading lists

  • Partner with the Director of Academic Technology and technology team to research and propose new ways to enhance teaching and learning; promote innovation; and foster purposeful, meaningful, and creative integration of technology

  • Partner with teaching colleagues to develop lessons that integrate both technology and research skills into the curriculum

  • Work with students as a mentor as part of our Advisory program to nurture students’ personal growth, learning, and achievement

  • Advise student organizations, coach sports, and/or chaperone outdoor education trips

  • Attend meetings and events that occur outside of school hours, both weekday and weekend

Physical Requirements: Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear, and interact with campus visitors as well as others who telephone. Must have the ability to understand and present materials and communicate with constituents and co-workers in a harmonious manner.
