Innovation Integrator and Technician
You are a patient, imaginative problem solver who loves working with people, tinkering and creating using a variety of tools and materials and you are captivated by technology. A dynamic and engaging innovator, you will report to the Director of Innovation and Technology, and you will coach classroom teachers to implement innovative uses of technology in the classroom and curriculum. Additionally, your technical skills will be put to use in first level technical and audio visual support for staff and students. You will respond to IT ticket requests, troubleshoot hardware issues as well as provide database administration support for the Student Information System. Responsibilities:

Researches and provides feasibility models for the integration of innovative technology and non-technology teaching and learning practices and tools into our classrooms

Coaches teachers in the development and implementation of innovative technology and non-technology based curriculum and provides innovation and technology centred training and professional development sessions for staff and students

Provides first-level support on the Help Desk and participates in monitoring the Innovation and Technology ticket queue by handling requests, distributing or escalating issues to the appropriate team member; accurately logs help desk tickets and resolutions into the help desk software management system

Troubleshoots and resolves routine issues related to network access, AV equipment, printers, LAN, WLAN, internet connectivity, operating systems, and hardware and contacts external resources

Assists with device on-boarding and off-boarding of staff and students and tracking and setting up equipment on loan to staff

Assists with routine Student Information System database tasks

Provides occasional technical support for events and programs held on evenings and weekends
The successful candidate will have:
-
A post-secondary degree or diploma coupled with at least three years of integrating technology into the class or work environment and/or help desk experience

BEd plus Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers an asset
-
Experience and skill in coaching and training others
-
Exceptional customer service orientation
-
A strong understanding of curriculum
-
CompTIA A+/Network+ or MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) an asset
-
Proficient in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, macOS as well as MS Office Suite, Google Apps for Education

Ability to diagnose problems, perform routine maintenance on IT assets, and provide support for a wide range of applications

Experience assigning permissions and setting up applications within a database at a basic level preferred

An understanding of IP networking and connectivity

Ability to quickly analyze issues and determine best course of action using available resources
