Title: K-12 Technology Teacher

Position Description:
The IDEAL School of Manhattan is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and creative technology teacher for a full-time position starting in August 2019.
IDEAL teachers are charged with inspiring students in an inclusive and nurturing learning community to achieve personal and academic excellence. It is the norm for subject-area teachers at IDEAL to partner with learning specialists to differentiate subject matter and for teachers within a discipline and across subject-areas to work together to develop curriculum and projects. The technology teacher will teach classes in both divisions, support K-12 teachers and students with educational technology integration in the classroom, and support the maintenance of IDEAL’s Learning Management System.
All IDEAL teachers also serve as advisors and contribute in significant ways beyond the classroom; it is the norm for teachers to mentor a club, provide extra help, chaperone overnight class trips, and lead their own extra-curricular activities and initiatives. They know their students as learners and as individuals, and they inspire their students by setting a high bar for excellence while making the classroom fun and supporting all learners in achieving. In short, they adore and believe in their students and, in turn, are admired and respected by their students.
The successful candidate will work effectively with Lower, Middle, and High School students; partner thoughtfully with colleagues and parents; demonstrate the ability to inspire students to strive for both personal and academic excellence, and possess a commitment to inclusive education.
Essential Qualifications:

An ability to promote the use of online learning management systems to support students, teachers, administrators, and parents

An ability to help students develop and apply technology skills across disciplines and in real-world situations

An ability to help students strengthen thinking skills, creativity, and knowledge through technology

A strong understanding of digital Literacy and safety standards and skills

An ability to support teachers with technology applications in the classroom

Appreciation for the school’s mission and commitment to social justice

A strong understanding of differentiation

The ability to collaborate as a part of a team

A desire to make a difference in the school--to contribute time and talent outside of the classroom to the growth of students and the school

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bachelor’s degree and experience in an appropriate field are required; a Master’s degree in education and independent school experience is preferred
