Educational Technology Trainer
REPORTS TO:
Director, Educational Technology
OVERVIEW:
The Educational Technology Trainer role requires particular expertise in curriculum and technology integration. The focus of the Educational Technology Trainer is to focus on district projects assigned, develop training and support material and coordinate trainings for staff throughout the district. The Educational Technology Trainer works with other teachers in developing and/or acquiring information resources that align with curriculum.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Arizona teaching certificate with evidence of highly qualified status

Minimum five years successful classroom teaching experience

Knowledge and understanding of effective technology integration strategies and research-based best practices for curriculum integration

Knowledge and understanding of a variety of multi-media and the ability to apply multimedia to improve curriculum and instruction in the content areas

Knowledge of K-12 curriculum and core content topics
-
Knowledge and skills in areas such as mentoring; classroom management; alignment of curriculum and instruction; peer coaching
-
Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies for instructing diverse learners
-
Knowledge of national, state, and district standards and trends concerning instructional methods, resources, and strategies
-
Evidence of proficiency with technology including presentation equipment, word processing and desktop publishing; and a willingness to innovatively apply technology appropriately and effectively in the library and other content areas

Expertise in working collaboratively with colleagues in areas of professional development, learning teams, new teacher support, and/or instructional planning
-
Experience working collaboratively with classified and certified employees

Ability to plan and present information/training for the adult learner

Ability to work with other specialists to integrate technology with other content areas and to articulate with various grade levels

Possess a strong commitment to continuous improvement supporting the MPS mission and strategic plan

Effective communication, planning, organization, presentation, and leadership skills; ability to work with and motivate others

Ability to work effectively and efficiently without constant supervision and under stressful timelines

Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, students and community

Ability and willingness to work outside the traditional teacher working hours and calendar, including evenings, weekends, and summers

Ability to perform moderate physical tasks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Educational Technology Trainer works in conjunction with district leadership and various departments to ensure resource center specialist/teacher/student success. The trainer
-
provides direct instruction of standards-based lessons to specialists and educators
-
works with other specialists and to design training for new and continuing teachers in the use of technology integration available to support instruction
-
prepares lesson plans, training materials and tutorials for district supported programs
-
facilitates implementation of district wide technology projects
-
assists district level and building level specialists, teachers, administrators, and other staff as necessary to understand content area needs, innovations, strategies, etc
-
serves as a model by demonstrating lessons in the library resource center or classroom when appropriate
-
develops on-line learning opportunities and professional development activities for staff across the district
-
works in conjunction with Educational TV staff to create instructional and staff development materials
-
coordinates the acquisition of subscription databases and other information needs of the teachers in all content areas; and

understands the purpose and specifics of implementing an effective media program that supports students and staff
-
models direct, explicit systematic instruction including effective teaching techniques and strategies
-
increases and enhances own professional knowledge, skills, and expertise about technology integration with the curriculum

exhibits professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor
-
performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the work unit
