POSITION: DIRECTOR – TECHNOLOGY (Pending PC Approval)

261 DAYS PER YEAR POSITION. DISTRICT OFFICE.

SALARY: RANGE 42 M; $117,300.12 - $142,947.49 ANNUALLY

Under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, the Director of Technology plans, organizes, controls and directs the District's information technology services program in support of future-ready classrooms and student centered learning environments; coordinates the selection and implementation of computing platforms, mobile devices and applications, and related technology for the District's instructional and administrative needs; provides leadership in the development of information management systems, network services, voice and data applications, cloud services, mobile device management and instructional technology; supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; and performs related work as required.

 Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply:
Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree in computer information science or related field and four years increasingly responsible experience in information processing, systems analysis and programming and data communications, including one year in an on-line computer environment and three years in a supervisory capacity.

  • Lead, plan, organize and direct the District's Technology Department. Provide leadership in the development of the information management system. Coordinate District computer activities and operations; coordinate activities with regard to policy and administrative needs of the District. E

  • Analyze, direct and determine the development and implementation of new and revised systems and applications to accomplish the District's technology needs; manage the information processing system, including both centralized data processing and network systems throughout the District. E

  • Directs development of District productivity applications, cloud based services and systems; Oversees the development and implementation of flexible wired and wireless network that integrates voice, video and data services at the mobile client level and provides a robust environment for technology. E

  • Works with departments and school sites to assure optimum acquisition, allocation of equipment, facilities, and project supplies in support of student centered learning. E

  • Research and review site technology plans for coordination into the District Technology Plan. E

  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate with County, State and Federal network developments. Responsible for federal, state, and local reporting (i.e., CALPADS, Attendance, etc.)

  • Participate on Technology Grant application and development committees. Ensure coordinated effort with other technology projects and grants. E

  • Confer with District and school administrative personnel regarding data processing needs and to investigate major operating complaints; research and resolve user hardware and software issues, concerns and problems. E

  • Direct and schedule the training and documentation for new applications used within the District; develop or obtain and schedule training opportunities for District personnel using mainframe and network terminals and various software applications used within the District. E

  • Train, schedule, supervise and evaluate assigned information systems personnel. E

  • Operate a variety of computer hardware and software applications, including mini and microcomputers, printers, and modems, network hardware, network software, system management software.. E

  • Cooperate with departmental management in the design of, conversion to and utilization of information processing systems and applications, including the design of inputs and outputs, information flow and documentation. E

  • Perform technical evaluation and acquisition of new hardware and software; project long-range computerization needs of the District; project present and future equipment, data communication, and personnel needs and costs; assist in management and policy decisions for priorities, acquisitions and conversion. E

  • Prepare and control annual department budget; prepare written reports and recommendations regarding the economic and technical feasibility of proposed applications using electronic information processing. E

  • Meet with users to design new ideas and systems and to implement better service and utilization; respond to requests from District personnel for a variety of assistance, including reports and software and hardware issues. E

  • Communicates with administrators, personnel, and outside organizations to coordinate technology efforts, activities, and programs to solve issues and conflicts and exchange information; E

  • Reviews and analyzes systems and determines appropriate improvements; reviews purchase orders for software, hardware, computers, and supplies for compliance with District standards, prepares configuration and bid specifications for computers and evaluates bid responses. E
