The Collegiate School seeks a Digital Services Librarian and Instructional Technology Integrator for the Upper School. In this unique role, the ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the Upper School Library staff and the instructional technology team to support the successful integration of both library resources and technology into the academic program. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership in integrating technology and library resources into the classroom to enhance and enrich the curriculum.

  • Meeting regularly with Upper School departments to understand their curricular goals and to plan effective integration strategies.

  • Supporting faculty and staff in their use of technology through training, professional development and individualized support.

  • Working collaboratively to develop new approaches, services, systems, and strategies to actively engage with faculty and students during all phases of the research process: from research design, through discovery, analysis, and publication.

  • Collaborating directly with faculty to design library research instruction sessions that include information technology resources. Regularly teach library instruction sessions for the development of research and information literacy skills for Upper School students.

  • Collaborate with library staff, technology department, faculty, and outside vendors to ensure that the library website and catalog, LibGuides, virtual instruction, and other technology platforms are effective portals to library resources (i.e. digital information management).

  • Working with librarians, faculty, and students in the acquisition of resources in support of the curriculum and supplemental materials for the enrichment of the intellectual life of the school.

  • Researching and sharing best practices in the use of technology with Upper School teachers.

  • Collaborating with the Director of Instructional Technology to plan and deliver professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.

  • Assisting teachers in the effective implementation and use of the School’s Learning Management System (Schoology).

  • Supporting teachers with implementation of STEAM-related programming in the Upper School.

  • Modeling and facilitating safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.

  • Daily reference desk duties include identifying and interpreting student and faculty needs, research assistance, readers’ advisory, computer and database assistance and providing general assistance.

 

Additional qualities of a successful candidate will include:

  • ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library or Information Sciences or a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology, and at least two years of experience in a secondary school setting;

  • A strong pedagogical background with experience connecting instructional activities to library and technology resources;

  • Knowledge of library research strategies and library instructional methodologies;

  • Passion and commitment for reading, creative and educational technologies, digital literacy, and research;

  • A joy for working with young adults;

  • A service-oriented, innovative, creative, and forward-thinking individual; 

  • Record of creative and innovative applications of technology in education;

  • Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community.
