Director of Technology
Far Brook School, a Nursery through Grade Eight progressive independent school in Short Hills, NJ seeks a highly qualified Director of Technology. This is a 12-month, full-time position. Qualified candidates will be creative, forward-thinking, and collaborative. The position will start July 1.
The Director of Technology will work closely with all constituent groups, providing technical support and guidance as needed. Responsibilities will include managing a variety of hardware and software systems, including laptops, workstations, peripherals, and iOS devices. Knowledge of GSuite and WordPress Content Management System are required. Familiarity with building automation, as well as databases such as Blackbaud, Rediker, and SchoolAdmin is a plus.
The applicant must display excellent communication and organizational skills, an ability to think strategically and innovatively, and a willingness to learn new skills.
General responsibilities:

Assume a leadership role in the development, implementation and operation of the Far Brook School technology infrastructure

Work directly with the Educational Technology Specialist and the Division Directors to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum to support teaching and learning

Develop & manage the technology budget for the upcoming school year and review budget quarterly

Acquire relevant hardware and software

Serve as the liaison between Far Brook School and any contracted technology support companies

Collaborate with the Educational Technology Specialist to provide technology support for faculty, staff, and students

Troubleshoot and maintain servers, laptops, desktops, printers and other technology equipment with the assistance of the School’s contracted technology support companies

Organize technology-related professional development sessions for faculty and staff

Attend administrative and faculty meetings as requested by the Head of School

Partner with the Educational Technology Specialist to provide the School with an annual, thorough analysis of the technology infrastructure and evaluation of the effectiveness of technology in the curriculum

Maintain and develop School’s current website (Must know html, php, javascript, and css)

Maintain Search Engine Marketing and Search Engine Optimization on Far Brook’s website

Collaborate with Marketing and Admissions Departments to maintain School’s web presence by updating Google Ads, email marketing, Facebook/Instagram ads, etc.

Attend evening events occasionally throughout the year to provide technical and A/V support

Perform other duties as requested by the Head of School
