Instructional Designer
JOB SUMMARY
UC Irvine's Division of Continuing Education is seeking an Instructional Designer to provide course development expertise and direction for online programs. The Instructional Designer will have direct responsibility for instructional design, project management, and faculty and instructor collaboration. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to problem solve and think critically, and also be able to adjust to a rapidly changing environment.
He or she must be able to work with a geographically distributed team of content experts, part-time instructors, planning unit director, and support staff. The position requires strong project management skills, extensive pedagogical and course design knowledge, knowledge of ADA requirements for accessibility and the ability to assist instructors in achieving ADA compliant course delivery; strong communication skills, the ability to move projects with many stakeholders forward in a timely manner, and experience with various aspects of distance learning.
Salary: Range $70,000.00 - $75,000.00
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Contract Position.
REQUIRED
Master's degree in instructional design or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Excellent written English with an eagle eye for grammar and spelling errors with the ability to retain the author’s voice after editing.
Ability to author high level, engaging course design within the Canvas LMS.
Ability to demonstrate innovative and creative writing and editing.
Excellent analytical, written and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate well with faculty and instructors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing and prioritizing multiple projects.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Ability to manage multiple projects, adjust to changing priorities and perform well under pressure.
