Middle School Technology Coordinator

The primary purpose of this position is to:

Collaborate with teachers and students to integrate educational technology (edTech) skills as well as maker education (MakerEd) skills, seamlessly into the existing curriculum. Be knowledgeable of current and relevant instructional technology programming and how it relates to Middle School education.

Essential job functions include:

1. Manage scheduling the Computer Lab and Maker Space along with the equipment; including, but not limited to iMac computers, iPads, 3D Printers, Light Boxes, Wacom Tablets, etc.

2. Teach Robotics during the 8th Grade Arts Rotation.

3. Teach 1-3 classes of elective MakerSpace programming.

4. Support 6th grade students through the Digital Leadership course as they learn how to use technology independently and responsibly at school, as a tool and not as a toy.

5. Support Math teachers during Hour of Code and Week of Code to provide programming differentiation to students during their math class.

6. Support Science teachers during their Robotics units.

7. Create a safe physical and emotional space for students before school, at snack, and during lunch times 3 times a week in the Maker Space and Computer Lab. (Supervision)

8. Confidence in teaching workshops in large or small groups, as well as one on one.

9. Exhibit a passion for developing, implementing, and improving curriculum that is informed by best practice and experience as needed in collaboration with classroom teachers in all subjects to develop integrated, hands-on lessons that provide opportunities for problem-based learning.

10. Establish long-term goals for innovation. Solicit feedback for continued progress.

Minimum Requirements:
 

Education: Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred in Education or specific area of teaching.

Years of Experience: 3+ years in Middle School education preferred.
