ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

USF Information Technology (USF IT) provides technology services and support for the USF System including the USF institutions in Tampa (including USF Health), St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee. The IT team, led by the System Vice President and CIO, provides the following services: Administrative Services, Client Support, Communication Services, Teaching and Learning, Analytics and Reporting, Mobile and Web Services, Consulting Services, Cybersecurity Service and Research Technologies.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the administration, analysis and problem solving related to complex computer applications and systems for faculty, staff, and students within the unit. This position provides a wide range of in-depth technical assistance and guidance to unit user support staff. This position analyzes current and proposed departmental/user hardware and software. Maintains a broad knowledge of state of the art technology, equipment and/or systems; participates in professional development activities as appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyzes and solves problems related to complex computer applications and systems for faculty, staff and students within the unit. Provides a wide range of in-depth technical assistance and guidance to unit user support staff.

• System administration of large enterprise systems including VMWare, Citrix, Microsoft.

• Communicates with departments and faculty regarding new computer lab orders, replacement and upgrades. Assist with the ordering of new equipment and organize the installation of all replacements and upgrades.

• Maintains broad knowledge of state of the art technology, equipment and/or systems; participates in professional development activities as appropriate.

• Analyze current and proposed departmental/user hardware and software.

• Performs miscellaneous information technology support duties as required to meet the needs of the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other field involving software and analytical training and two years of IT related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree with no specific required field and three years of  IT related work experience, OR a combination of  six years of IT related work experience and validated  training.  Preparation for a relevant IT certification, validated through certification requirements and documentation of completion, is considered to be related training.
