Digital Learning at the University of Arizona is seeking an individual to provide academic technology support for faculty, students and staff of the greater UA community. This position is responsible for troubleshooting issues with technology, developing communication and training materials, and building effective relationships with instructors, instructional support teams, and vendors. The Instructional Technologist contributes to the academic mission of the University by enabling access to technologies for curricular or co-curricular needs. The successful candidate will have a good customer service ethic, effective interpersonal skills, an independence in time management and work prioritization, and an approach that focuses on positively impacting educational experiences at the UA. This individual will work as a member of the tech team at Digital Learning, but will act as a campus-wide resource for the various needs of UA’s learners and instructors.

The University of Arizona is in the process of creating a new classification and compensation architecture. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot issues with technology, both hardware and software, for users across the University of Arizona community

  • Develop communication materials and contribute to strategies for the distribution, implementation, and training on/of academic technologies

  • Design, deliver, and manage orientations related to incorporating technologies into academic settings

  • Form collaborative relationships with vendors, faculty, and instructional support teams to implement technology integrations with new and/or existing systems on campus

  • Support instructors and staff to develop content delivery models that promote accessibility, scalability, and student success

  • Create support networks to learn about and share academic technologies

  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact within a diverse, multicultural community

  • Ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of related experience

  • Experience in developing and/or delivering formal and informal trainings

  • Experience in creating documentation and/or knowledge bases for end users

  • Experience in troubleshooting and tech-desk support

  • Ability to assess and curate resources to meet the multifarious needs of UA community

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in related field and three years of related experience

  • Experience working with learning management systems and academic technologies in the UA toolkit: Adobe Connect, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Captivate, Credly, Examity, Google Apps for Education, Panopto, PlayPosit, Articulate Storyline, VoiceThread

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current practices and emerging trends in distance and online education

  • Experience developing web content

  • Experience supporting faculty and students in higher education settings

  • An eagerness and agility in learning new skills, technologies, and practices related to education
