Lower School Innovation Hub Co-Coordinator

This master educator will bring energy and passion for stewarding the Lower School Innovation Hub, coordinating LS initiatives related to innovation, technology, and design and teaching LS special area classes in these areas. Reports to the Director of Educational Technology.

Main Responsibilities & Competencies 

Further the Development of Lower School Initiatives in the Areas of Innovation, Technology, and Design: 

• Create a positive, student-centered learning environment that encourages exploration and risk-taking

• Help develop, implement, and continuously seek best practices in the curriculum 

• Serve as a divisional liaison for faculty, supporting the integration of maker education and design thinking in their classroom curriculum

• Contribute to institutional vision-casting and strategy by being a contributing member of the school-wide Innovation Task Force

• Engage in ongoing professional development by attending relevant conferences, staying current on educational literature, and maintaining an active professional network of colleagues

• Foster mutually beneficial relationships between students, faculty, and members of the larger community, including university and business contacts 

• Teach through the lens of the Ravenscroft Design Process, while also promoting its use in lower school classrooms

Steward of the LS Innovation Hub 

• Act as steward and ambassador of the Innovation Hub, helping members of our community to creatively utilize the space

• Co-coordinate regular maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery in the space

• Manage the budget of the lab and coordinate all necessary purchasing

• Keep up-to-date on ever-changing technology (hardware and software) so that curriculum supported by the hub remains fresh and cutting edge

Teach Lower School Classes  

• Teach special area classes focused on innovation, technology, and design

• Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and collaborate with them whenever possible

• Be available for ‘Open Lab’ time in which students would need supervision after school from 3:00-3:45 two days a week

Other Institutional Responsibilities 

• Embrace Lead From Here, our Citizen Leader Framework, in all aspects of professional life

• Partner with the Head of Lower School, as well as the Director of Educational Technology, to ensure the implementation of best practices

• Run an after school club (such as Science Olympiad) one day a week

 Qualifications 

• STEM-related Bachelor’s degree and teaching experience required. Advanced degrees and certifications are preferred

• Willing to assist and support students above all else

• Strong teaching skills with an ability to meet various learning styles

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Technical skills and knowledge of a wide range of computer technologies and applications

• Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team

• Ability to connect, collaborate, and partner with students, teachers, administrators, and staff
