STEM Lab/Maker Space Teacher
Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS) seeks an ambitious and engaging STEM Lab/Maker Space Teacher for a new position that will include developing a comprehensive engineering and technology program. Reports to: Head of Middle School
Status: Salaried/Exempt
Start Date: August 5, 2020
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM; additional time as needed for after-school meetings and professional development
Responsibilities:

Teach daily 5th-8th grade technology/engineering -based enrichment classes in the school’s brand new middle school STEM lab/maker space

Promote and coordinate cross-curricular opportunities in the maker space

Manage and coordinate the utilization of the maker space and its resources

Develop curriculum and collaborate with lower school maker space teacher to maintain vertical alignment across grades and divisions

Incorporate ISTE Standards for Students and Google Suite tools into the curriculum to increase student technical proficiency

Utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials that reflect an understanding of various learning styles

Create lesson plans based on sound, research-based methods of instruction

Conduct an ongoing formal and informal assessment of student achievement

Implement classroom management techniques that align with the school’s culture

Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, phone calls, emails, texts, and conferences

Communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the school community
-
Attend annual grade-level class trip (typically three to four days) if needed

Participate in school events and community-service projects
-
Actively engage in a robust assortment of faculty professional development opportunities offered to AOS teachers

Fulfill other duties as requested
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, educational technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred

Minimum three years teaching experience with a technology emphasis; Middle school experience preferred

Experience using multiple pedagogical strategies to build and assess student skills and knowledge

Knowledge of adolescent development

Knowledge of research-based practices for effective middle school instruction
