POSITION OVERVIEW
The Technology Support Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology and works for the Information Technology department helping users directly with their technology needs. The role of this position is one of direct faculty, student, and staff support, which includes responding to Help Desk Tickets for service requests and emergency requests throughout the day to help facilitate technology in the classrooms. This position includes troubleshooting simple to complex computer, A/V, and/or network issues as well as simple technology maintenance like replacing ink cartridges, replacing used keyboards/mice, troubleshooting internet connections, etc.
Responsibilities
Troubleshooting and User Support

Directly assist all users schoolwide with their technology needs and problems, prioritizing their needs based on urgency.

Promptly and professionally responding to help desk requests, and oral requests for computer, A/V, or networking related issues.

Promptly and professionally responding to help requests in the classroom in regards to A/V equipment.

Ensuring that all computer systems are up-to-date and running correctly.

Ensuring interactive displays in classrooms are functional and running correctly.
-
Replacing ink toner, old keyboards/mice and other computer parts as needed.
-
Keeping computer parts and inventory organized.
-
Supporting users directly by helping them set up their wireless devices and connecting them to printers when appropriate.

Helping set up technology in classrooms and offices for meetings or in preparation for events.
-
Organizing and managing computer cloning strategies to clone individual computers on a need-basis and all classroom/staff computers.

Troubleshooting simple hardware and network problems.

Resetting student/staff passwords.
-
Facilitate repairs with 3rd party vendors.
-
Provide multimedia set-up for special events.
-
Support users with Google Apps for Education and other network services.

Support teacher and student implementation of technology projects both in and out of class when appropriate.

Support technology services in general including new projects as needs arise.
Essential Functions
Expertise to include:

General knowledge of Mac OS X and Windows PC devices for troubleshooting.

General knowledge of A/V equipment for troubleshooting (projector, audio, interactive displays, etc.

General knowledge of JAMF Enterprise Management Software.

Qualifications

Information Technology Specialist must hold a High School Diploma and three (3) to five (5) years of directly related work experience.

Experience working in a K-12 educational environment preferred.

Experience and training in a network environment and knowledge of network protocol preferred.
