The Head of Upper School Academic Technology leads Chapin's Upper School Academic Technology Department and teaches technology classes in Upper School (Grades 8–12). This individual reports to the Head of Upper School and collaborates with the Division Head and the Director of Academic Program to support faculty in integrating technology into their teaching practice. The Head of Upper School Academic Technology works closely with educational technology leaders in Lower and Middle Schools and our school's Director of Technology, who oversees IT.

Ideal candidates can teach advanced computer science, computer programming, computational thinking, and ethics in technology. Candidates should understand the demands of the 21st-century digital learner and be able to develop curricula and expand curricular offerings in the computer science pathway. The successful candidate will possess a strategic vision for the powerful, thoughtful integration of technology into all classrooms, regardless of discipline. We are eager to meet technologists and educators with a proven track record of inspiring teachers in all fields to use technology in meaningful ways through effective professional development and coaching.

The Head of Upper School Academic Technology will possess the leadership, competence, and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students and faculty and help to build on the culture of innovation, emerging trends, and a growth mindset. Experience supervising and working in a Makerspace environment is a plus. The Head of Upper School Academic Technology will also sponsor the Coding Club and work closely with the Upper School FRC Robotics Team.
