Network Administrator
Westridge School is an independent day school for girls located in Pasadena, California. Westridge is seeking a skilled and highly-capable professional to serve as the network administrator. Reporting to the senior IT manager, the network administrator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the connections and communications across computers, servers, network devices and other computer equipment. They maintain daily operational availability of all network assets and monitor network performance, while providing troubleshooting and configuration services as needed.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Networking

Building and setting up computer networks by physically installing, connecting, and configuring equipment and software

Managing Microsoft 365 and online Exchange
-
Managing Microsoft School Data Sync and Microsoft Teams Class platform
-
Administering the user and computer accounts, including email, group policies, and security rights and permissions (Active Directory)
-
Maintaining network performance by conducting network monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning, troubleshooting network issues and escalating problems as appropriate
-
Securing the network by developing network access protocols, monitoring, and evaluating access and performance Manages OPSWAT Impulse network access control system and Kaspersky virus and malware protection.

Planning, scheduling, and implementing patches and updates to all network devices and software
-
Administering and maintaining the telephone/paging system
-
Managing small to mid-size projects per agreed upon schedules and budgets
-
Documenting systems and policy changes
-
Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

Occasional evening and weekend hours availability for emergency support

Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Cybersecurity
-
Implementing cybersecurity training and procedures
-
Working with the Systems Administrator to maintain network security, cybersecurity and disaster prevention and recovery plans to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized access, damage, modification, or disclosure of data
Mobile Device Management
-
Providing expertise and direction in the development and modification of mobile solutions to enhance performance and availability
-
Monitoring, tracking, and updating incidents and trouble calls in tracking system in support of efficient procedures and excellent customer satisfaction

Troubleshooting and resolving mobile device wireless connectivity issues
-
Planning, creating, maintaining (through inventory management) and deploying mobile security and mobile device management policies and conducting periodic security audits on mobile devices and infrastructure to ensure compliance to security standards

Planning and managing policies and security. Researching new mobile solutions and enhancements to our existing mobile solutions and tools; determining how those changes affect our strategies and bring potential benefits to our current mobile device environment

Testing and deploying updates and fixes for all devices

Evaluating and recommending new hardware for device renewal and replacement

Help Desk Support and Administration and Training

Provides primary support for Office 365
-
Provides as-needed technical assistance to end-users and the Help Desk

Provides end user training on hardware and software and other equipment
-
Works closely with Help Desk Manager and Senior IT Manager to develop and maintain efficient procedures in order to provide a high level of customer support and satisfaction to users
Asset Management
-
Manages receipt of equipment, inventory of software licenses, software, hardware, and other IT supplies
-
Manages printing services and supplies
-
Evaluating, recommending, and purchasing software, hardware and other IT supplies
New Hire and New Student Administration
-
Manages creation of accounts for new users (network, copier, LMS, Wifi, etc.)

Trains new users on software, internal systems, and hardware
-
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Information systems, Computer Science, or a related field
-
3 years experience in enterprise level network administration role
-
Hands-on experience analyzing logs, network data, and other attack artifacts in support of unauthorized access incident investigations
-
Industry Technical Certification, MCSE, CISSP, CCNA, or CCNP a plus
-
Proven network engineering, network operations, and network performance analysis skills

Hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities
-
Knowledge of computing infrastructures

Familiarity with virtual server management and monitoring tools

Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability
-
Proficiency with scripting languages
-
Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues
-
Committed to understanding and meeting the technology expectations of internal clients
-
High degree of technical aptitude in the areas of networking, audio visual, software and hardware
-
Strong comfort with technology: new software, new hardware and challenges associated with their use

Excellent project management and organizational skills

Ability to embrace a collaborative work style and interact in a positive and proactive manner with all school constituencies

Schedule
This is a full-time non-exempt position with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
