Salary Range: $74,000 - $84,000 /year

The Graduate Division Lead Business Configuration and Data Analyst is an experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems / issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. This position applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

Under general direction, the Lead Business Configuration and Data Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining complex computer-based administrative information systems serving The Graduate Division. The incumbent performs advanced quality assurance and key systems analysis functions in an independent manner with the ability to think quickly as a problem solver. In coordination with the Academic Affairs Information Services (AAIS) group, this position analyzes, develops, tests, implements, and enhances multiple technology systems and corresponding in-house developed programs/apps. Leads configuration, implementation and business process optimization of Enterprise Systems Renewal (ESR) projects (including, but not limited to, the new Student Information System (SIS)) across all units within The Graduate Division. The incumbent works in collaboration with, and receives work direction as appropriate, from the ITS-SIS Service Offering Manager for the Graduate Division.

Management of such systems is critical to the management of over 8,000 graduate and professional student records. The systems handle vast amounts of high-risk information, requiring attention to detail, constant monitoring, and knowledge of federal, state, and university rules, regulations, and software relating to financial support (including merit- and need-based aid), academic/student affairs, and admissions. Current systems include, but are not limited to: financial and human resource systems (ProSAM and IAM, UCPath, Instructional Assistant (IA), Oracle Financial Cloud), admissions/CRM systems (Slate, ServiceNOW), student systems (ISIS, Blade, OnBase, Student Database). Campus business partners include, but are not limited to: Financial Aid & Scholarships Office, School of Medicine Financial Aid, Student Financial Solutions, Office of the Registrar and various units within Business & Financial Services.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to instruct non-technical users in the use of applications. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbally and in writing.

• Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.

• Broad knowledge relating to software design. Strong analytical skills and capacity to solve complex software problems by finding creative solutions.

• In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description.

• Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.

• Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL) and data analytic capabilities with the intention of producing datasets that bridge different areas of core functions across campus systems. Ability to build and maintain moderately complex reports with business intelligence/analytics and data visualization tools, such as Cognos or Tableau. Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions and analytics. Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce reports and documentation.

• Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.

• Ability to read, understand, and apply the content of technical literature.

• Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures. Working knowledge of educational policies, procedures, and processes in higher education settings, including teaching, research, and professional programs. Strong understanding of university, state, and federal regulations governing graduate and professional student academic studies and financial support.

• Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Proven problem solving skills. Attention to detail, with the ability to adapt to shifting prioritization and demanding time frames. Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to organize work and prioritize tasks, taking initiative and exercising sound judgment.
