At Chapin, we rely on our IT systems and infrastructure to power the solutions that support faculty, staff, and students to achieve business and academic excellence in a predominantly MAC environment. The Systems Administrator will use their technological skills to support all aspects of information technology at the school to make us more efficient.  They will analyze our current systems and assets, recommend and implement solutions and upgrades, and provide training tailored to the needs of our community members. This position is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director of Technology.  

Major responsibilities:

  • Lead IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services.
  • Develop and maintain Mac deployment automation architecture, design/migration, and troubleshooting.  
  • Monitor performance of IT systems and the network and make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
  • Assist with research, evaluation, and maintenance of current and emerging technologies and essential IT operations.
  • Assist with research, development, and evaluation of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to data integrity and security.
  • Monitor and maintain safe, secure and reliable electronic data storage and backups.
  • Assist with the development and execution of disaster recovery and continuity procedures.
  • Respond to queries and provide technical assistance and support for issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Track and maintain hardware and software inventory and facilitate collection and distribution of technology equipment.
  • Manage end-user accounts (i.e., Google Education, Outlook 365, etc.).
  • Facilitate all technical on-boarding procedures for new faculty and staff.
  • Provide ongoing technical training to faculty and maintain a knowledge system.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Previous experience with macOS and Apple hardware repair, five+ years preferred.
  • IT Professional certifications, JAMF 300+ preferred, Apple certification is a plus.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining iOS and OSX systems.
  • Experience working in a K-12 academic setting is preferred.
  • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems (MS Exchange, Active Directory), current equipment and technologies, and system performance monitoring
  • Ability to identify problematic areas and recommend or implement strategic solutions.

  • Advanced knowledge of Mac Platform
  • Microsoft - Office365, Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure AD, PowerShell
  • Canvas, GSuite, Apple School Manager, JAMF MDM, Adobe Admin Console, Zendesk
  • Classroom technologies (Cisco Webex Infrastructure, Apple TV, Zoom)
  • Technical aspects of network installation, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, and repair (DHCP, DNS, VLAN’s, Subnetting)
  • Identification and mitigation of security threats, and best practices in risk management
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT and K12 technology policies.
  • Proven leadership skills, accountability, and an ability to prioritize
  • Strong creative, analytical thinking, and disaster recovery skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team.
