The Director of technology will support and manage our school network, hardware, and software utilized by faculty, staff, and students. Duties include managing technology infrastructure and curriculum, including our school’s website and learning management system, Blackbaud. The Director of technology will monitor the needs of the school and classroom and develop objectives that support the school’s mission. 

 

We are seeking a collaborative, highly organized individual with a growth mindset and a passion for Educational Technology who aims to make a difference and prepare our students for their future.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage school network, including switches, routers, firewalls, content filtering, and wireless access, including the maintenance and monitoring network security.

  • Oversee and manage the school learning management system Blackbaud. Assist with updating the LMS, troubleshooting, and maximizing features that meet our school’s needs.

  • Support website development, updates, and maintenance.

  • Manage and maintain the school PA System for daily usage and special events.

  • Manage and update school phone and voicemail systems. Problem-solve issues and maintain current extensions and settings.

  • Oversee, manage, and update school hardware with the support of the technology team. Support teachers with daily usage of iPads (Grades K-2), Mac Air books (Grades 3-6), SMART Boards, Classroom cameras, document readers, projectors, Apple TV devices, school copier and printers. 

  • Oversee and manage current school software, IXL, iReady Math, Google Classroom, Google Suite, See Saw, Type to Learn, etc. Installing necessary programs/apps, tracking student accounts and logins, and training faculty and students.

  • Maintain technology standards, procedures, and acceptable use policies for faculty, students, and staff.

  • Provide necessary professional development and growth experiences for faculty in areas of instructional technology integration and design.

  • Manage technical budgets, allocate resources and research, plan and supervise technology related projects.

  • Maintain the school’s technology and a backup plan.

  • Oversight of outside Technology audit services and assessments. 

  • Serve as a liaison for vendor contracts and relationships. Negotiate and manage bids, agreements, and contracts for technology and technology services as needed by the school.

  • Manage 1 staff member.

  • Collaborate and work well with Technology Team members.

  • Research current trends, products, programs, applications, and equipment and maintain knowledge and understanding of trends and best practices of an elementary school setting.

  • Support our teachers in their classrooms and establish an authentic campus presence and partnership as one of them, understanding the diverse needs of our teaching staff and the role that technology, innovation, and pedagogy play in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in educational technology, computer science or related field, or equivalent experience (Preferably Master’s Degree).

  • 3-5 years experience working in informational or instructional technology operations. Experience in a school environment is preferred. Classroom teaching experience in a K-6 setting a plus.

  • Strong communication skills – written, verbal, presentational, and instructional- to effectively communicate technical information to all stakeholders.

  • Experienced in leading trainings, workshops, and professional developments.

  •  Experience in management of IT-related projects with an emphasis on management skills and a solid ability to prioritize.

  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations best practices.

  •  Compassionate and inclusive with a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
