Database Manager (March-October 2016)

Friends Seminary is seeking a meticulous and accurate Database Manager for a seven-month maternity cover. This individual oversees the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the Institutional Advancement database and assures high standards of quality, consistency, and accuracy in its alumni and development-related systems. The Database Manager reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for the overall integrity of The Raiser’s Edge database and its continuity with Senior Systems and the website directory. The Database Manager supervises the Database Coordinator.

The Database Manager provides strategic leadership, as well as long-range and short-term planning, in the areas of gift processing, database integrity, reporting, data analysis and system enhancements. This position also works closely with all members of the Advancement Office, Admissions Office, Technology Office and the Business Office.

Database Management in Raiser’s Edge

Responsible for oversight of the Institutional Advancement database for the School including data integrity, reports, gift and demographic data entry, prospect management, and overall system upgrades and use
Implements new methods of coding to extract data properly
Oversees monthly financial reconciliation with the Business Office
Responds to auditor queries concerning annual audit
Trains advancement staff in proper use of database
Develops and maintains a dynamic list of policies, procedures and regulations related to the use of the School’s Institutional Advancement systems
Collaborates with Admissions and Business Offices, to ensure new family data in the three Friends Seminary databases is accurate and synchronized
Supervises the Database Coordinator

Reporting

Develops and produces detailed monthly gift reports
Produces and edits all lists and reports for Annual Report
Supports advancement staff in producing mailing lists
Designs and produces prospect tracking reports
Assists in analyzing fundraising practices
Produces development, including segmentation solicitation lists, campaign and stewardship reports
Manages availability of research data through Raiser’s Edge

Stewardship

In concert with Gift Officers, produces pledge reminders on an annual schedule

Technology

Collaborates with the Technology Department on database upgrades
Analyzes the needs of users, recommends systems solutions and oversees systems upgrades and conversions

Special Events

Works with Auction Benefit Director managing data in Auction Maestro and ensuring proper receipting and consolidation of data into Raiser’s Edge
Oversees on-site set-up at event, including oversight of all receivables at the event and post-event

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education and experience) with a minimum of three year’s relevant experience (database management and fundraising)
Support of the School’s mission and core values
Experience with Blackbaud’s The Raiser’s Edge. Experience with RE NXT preferred
Experience with Google applications including Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar preferred
Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office programs, especially in using the mail merge tool and Excel functions.
Demonstrated success in detail-oriented work
Outstanding writing and organizational skills. Detail-oriented and self-motivated
Ability to track and manage multiple tasks and details and meet deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively, positively and accurately in person and in writing with all constituents in a school environment
Ability to work independently and produce quality results on schedule
May require some evening and weekend work, particularly during peak periods (spring benefit, calendar and fiscal year-ends, etc)
