Education & Technology Support Specialist

SCOPE
Assist and guide the Academy’s staff and students in using the technologies within the school’s environment to the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness through instruction, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to hardware, software, and academic technology.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, research, and resolve end-user hardware and software issues.
- Collaborate with and provide guidance to faculty and students to integrate creative technology to enhance their teaching and learning experiences.
- Provide end-user technical support and appropriate training for the school’s hardware and software applications.
- Provide technical support for campus events requiring network connectivity, printing, audio/video connections, software and audio-visuals.
- Document, track and maintain accurate and timely information for support tickets and asset inventory.
- Stays abreast of the latest changes and developments in the information technology industry, including emerging trends and best practices in educational technology.
- Assists in managing projects that may require communication and coordination between any of the following: faculty, staff, students, or external contacts.
- Develop and teach workshops to faculty and/or students on emerging learning technologies to assist in teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with Director of Technology & Innovation and Dean of Faculty in creating, updating, and teaching digital citizenship to our community.
- Limited on-call responsibilities.
- Engages actively in the school’s diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism work in furtherance of Cary Academy’s commitment to equity and justice. In conjunction with manager, identifies and pursues ongoing professional development. Completes all required administrative, operational, and professional development tasks and activities in a responsive and timely manner per school operating policies and procedures. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The individual in this position must possess the following knowledge and/or skills:
- Thorough technical knowledge of all Windows based family of operating system, Apple operating systems and networking systems.
- Basic understanding of switched Ethernet and wireless networks, and cloud technology.
- Ability to support and troubleshoot all technology related problems and most network and server-based issues under guidance of senior staff.
- Knowledge of multimedia technology, multimedia authoring tools, and use of the Internet and Intranet to deliver information.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Invest the time to be a visible, engaged, and engaging presence on campus.
- Positive attitude, great follow-up skills and professional level of customer service skills
- Network+ or A+ professional certifications or equivalent preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Experience: One year of experience in information systems consulting, training, or programming, including experience dealing directly with the user community. A record of successful experience in more than one of the following areas: academic technology, technology training, information systems, programming, consulting, problem solving, networking related experience in an academic institution preferred.
Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
WORK SCHEDULE
Days: In general, this position is scheduled to work on campus Monday through Friday year-round, but is expected to work as necessary to ensure that position responsibilities are consistently met. There may be certain work requirements that could result in a need for temporary modification of this schedule.
Hours: This position is scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The actual times worked are determined by the supervisor and may fluctuate given the nature and seasonality of this position and are determined in coordination with the Division manager. This position may be called upon after hours and on weekends to respond to IS emergencies.
