Director of Technology
Position Term:
This is a full-time, 12-month position.
Position Description:
The Director of Informational Technology inspires and leads the development and implementation of a technology mission and vision specific to the pedagogy of The Field School. The person in this role will collaborate with the senior leadership team, the operational leadership team, and academic leadership team to design and implement effective strategies, software and hardware to support the mission and vision of the school. The Director of Informational Technology will assist the leadership teams mentioned above in ensuring that the long term strategic planning for informational technology at the school supports and enhances the operations and pedagogy of the School.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Big Picture:

Empower faculty with the toolsets, skill sets, and mindsets needed to leverage technology to advance collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and learning.

Ensure the school is prepared for multiple learning environments, regardless of physical location.

Develop, monitor, and report on clear benchmarks that illustrate how we are maximizing our investment in technology. Present analysis of how strategic and tactical changes are responsive to those benchmarks.

Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging educational technology initiatives that support learning and teaching, remaining mindful of Field’s mission and core values.

Coordinate technology-based on boarding for students and employees.

Serve as the primary liaison with any contracted technology contracts. Evaluate and recommend changes to existing contracted support.

Day-to-Day:
-
Planning and overseeing the acquisition and application of hardware and software to serve student, faculty, and office populations ? Effectively collaborating with others and managing technology projects across departments, while leveraging expert knowledge of what is required for successful implementation of new technology platforms and tools;

Building, managing, and leading a group of technology staff members, internal and contract staff, and technology vendors

Collaborate with individual teachers and teaching teams to identify products and practices to meet their educational goals.

Providing leadership in all things digital, from cameras to phones to information management

Oversee the use of Field’s learning management software and provide training to faculty and students for best practices of use in the classroom, regardless of physical location.

Assisting faculty in teaching students how to effectively use technology applications.
Qualifications:
-
Strong technology background and experience
-
5+ years of classroom teaching experience

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.

Keen understanding of education and the myriad complexities of driving educational innovation in a school setting

Experience in managing a significant technological infrastructure and technology support staff

Demonstrated capability in creating and managing systems to meet the needs of constituencies

A synthesized vision for the future of technology infrastructures within schools, including a place for cloud computing, mobile technologies, database services, and outsourcing

Leadership, creativity, enthusiasm, innovation, collaborative problem-solving

One or more of the following certifications:

Google for Education Certified Innovator

Google for Education Certified Trainer with a plan for Innovator application

ISTE Certification

Apple Distinguished Educator

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional school environment.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active; it requires standing and walking, including stairs.
Travel:
Regular local and regional travel should not be expected.
