Database Specialist and Technology Coordinator
Greenwich Academy seeks an experienced database administrator to work closely with all academic and administrative offices. Expect to analyze, develop, implement, and maintain information system solutions, applications and practices for effective management of all school functions. The ideal candidate has a broad understanding of the school’s mission and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality, an appreciation of the educational process and respect for those who support this work.? A hands-on approach and team attitude are both expected keys to success in this critical role.
Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Serving as primary in-house data specialist. Support end-users of data systems on campus with all functions of the school management system, including providing timely guidance, technical support, and resources to maximize productivity and functionality.

Resolving operational problems of the data system and any related database application systems and services.

Acting as primary point of contact for reporting support, including mining of data, developing processes, import/export of data, reports and supporting queries.

Overseeing all beginning and end-of-year functions such as constituent rollover, enrollment/re-enrollment contracts, employee management, Canvas course and roster management, school scheduling and report card/comment prep.

Extracting data from databases and providing interfaces for student schedules, course registrations, online forms and making bulk changes to student data, etc. as necessary.

Enabling users, where applicable, to be self-sufficient with data management and reporting capabilities.

Providing or coordinating training for end-users.

Maintaining any necessary 3rd party applications that interface. Currently: Filemaker system, Finalsite, Canvas, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge NXT, inResonanceProfessional hiring database, Odin Bookstore sales system.

Managing database user accounts and access for students, faculty/staff, and parents.

Working outside normal hours as needed to perform upgrades or enhancements.

Supporting Avigilon door access as necessary.

Being a member of the tech department supporting help desk and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Education

Fluency with FileMaker, Veracross, SQL, and Access a plus.

Fluency in both Windows OS and Mac OS environments.

BS in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field preferred.

At least three years in education-related experience preferred.

Comprehensive understanding of database theory and experience with database systems.

Success in a collaborative team environment and as independent operator.

Experience in a data system conversion/implementation a plus.

Strong organizational skills and orientation to detail, with ability to multi-task and meet multiple competing deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills, particularly to work closely with faculty, staff and administration.

Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and security of data
