The Technology Support Specialist supports, assists, and educates faculty and staff on how to effectively use the many facets of technology that Thayer has to offer, such as: MySchoolApp Learning Management System, Google Suite for Education, KnowBe4, LightSpeed, Zoom, Adobe Creative Suite, Thayer Video Server, TigerCloud, Digital Language Lab, Lego Robotics, GarageBand, Sim Bio, Flipgrid, TigerGuides, Poll Everywhere, Quizlet, and Explain Everything. The specialist will provide direct device support to faculty and staff. This is a salaried 12-month position. Reports to the Chief Information Officer.

  • Utilize help ticketing system and provide end-user support for faculty, staff and students.

  • Diagnose hardware and software problems.

  • Identify help ticket patterns and provide systematic solutions. 

  • Administers Cybersecurity training and testing through KnowBe4.

  • Administers Google Accounts, Gmail settings, Google Groups, etc. in Google Workspace.

  • Monitors and adjusts the blocklist in Lightspeed Filter and monitors software usage in LightSpeed Analytics per Tech policy

  • Provide end-user support diagnosing hardware and software problems.

  • Configures and deploys self-service computers and classroom devices.

  • Repair/upgrade MAC hardware and software.

  • Provides training and support for Google, Zoom, Interactive Boards and Owl camera.

  • Maintain/troubleshoot projectors, printers /scanners and digital cameras

  • Provides support for Makerspace software such as Adobe for 3D printing, laser cutters, CNC.

  • Monitors the FlySense Vape Detectors for outages.

  • Collaborates with technology team on policies, and procedures.

  • Responsible for acquiring, maintaining and expanding knowledge of relevant products.

  • Participates in weekly IT meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Information Officer.
