Job Title: Network Administrator/IT Support Specialist

Status: Regular, Full-Time

Work Year: 12 months

Classification: Exempt

Supervisor: Director of Technology

 

Summary: Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Network Administrator/IT Support is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of campus-wide network infrastructure, as well as troubleshooting software and hardware issues, installing, configuring, and maintaining systems, and performing equipment maintenance and repair.  This position is also the primary technical support contact for serving non-academic areas of campus.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as network administrator responsible for ensuring availability and reliability of all technology infrastructure, including campus servers, network devices, laptops and workstations 

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on workstations, laptops, servers and network devices

  • Manage a Windows Server domain at the highest level, wired and wireless networking and Cisco network infrastructure

  • Configure and deploy end-user workstations, laptops and mobile devices including the configuration and distribution of new student devices.

  • Support, set up and configure new and used computers and laptops to established standards.

  • Maintain organized network and inventory documentation. Complete annual inventory.

  • Remain informed on current network and device management best practices and trends via ongoing training and attending workshops, seminars or conferences and reviewing published information.

  • Manage a large fleet of MacBooks in a school environment using tools such as Mosyle MDM, Apple Remote Desktop, scripting, etc.

  • Configure and troubleshoot classroom technologies such as SMART boards,  projectors, printers and makerspace-related equipment such as 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, etc.

  • Manage weekly and daily data backup

  • Manage VoIP phone system and troubleshoot issues with security cameras

  • Maintain web/content filtering, firewall and security appliances and solutions

  • Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and software

  • Resolve network printing configuration and network connection issues 

  • Troubleshoot a TCP/IP physical and logical network

  • Set up and configure wireless access on end-user devices 

  • Assist with the periodic refresh of approximately 450 student and teacher laptops.  

  • Assist the Director of Technology with technology planning

  • Assist with faculty and staff technology training as needed

  • Provide Help Desk support coverage as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or work equivalent

  • Experience with managing a Windows Server domain at the highest level, wired and wireless networking and Cisco network infrastructure preferred

  • Experience with Mosyle or similar Mobile Device Management system

  • Experience with Mac and Windows environments preferred

  • Strong customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills 

  • Must be able to work cooperatively and productively

  • High level of integrity, responsibility, professionalism, patience and attention to detail 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Physical and Environmental Conditions: 

 

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, observe and monitor  

  • Able to push, pull, reach, bend and/or lift up to 50 pounds.  

  • Simultaneous/repetitive use of both hands is required for computer use. 

  • Sight, hearing and speech required to communicate effectively.

  • Have mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
