Junior IT Technician

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

UTS is looking for a Junior IT Technician to take on front line duties in the UTS IT Department. Under the direction of the IT & Media Director, the Junior I.T and Media Services Technician will perform first-level remedial assistance for staff and students having difficulty operating IT/Media equipment, coordinate sign out and return of equipment, as well as completing checklists that ensure an adequate level of supplies is maintained, and proper operating functionality of key UTS server, processes, networks and peripherals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Completed Ontario College Certificate in related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A+ certification would be preferred.

Experience: Minimum six months hands on experience supporting a range of PC computer types in an Active Directory domain and IP network, and related peripherals

Skills & Knowledge Base:

Good general knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems and applications

Excellent organizational skills

Working knowledge of TCP/IP and networking issues

Ability to work well with young adults and juggle conflicting demands.

Ability to move and install technical equipment;

Collegial with good communication skills.
