Academic Technology Coordinator
Position description
Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Academic Technology Coordinator at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley, a PK-8 independent French Bilingual school in Berkeley, California for the 2023-24 school year. This position reports to the Director of Technology and is responsible for managing and implementing instructional technology initiatives to support differentiated learning and help teachers construct and deliver outstanding learning experiences. This will include planning, coordinating, and evaluating the use of technologies and applications in K-8 classrooms as well as providing the necessary professional development to teachers and in-class support.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Instructional Technology

Develop and implement instructional technology plan by grade level group (K, G1-2, G3, G4-5, Middle School) in accordance with the school’s mission, goals, and curricula.

Research and test innovative technologies and related teaching strategies for use in the classroom.

Collaborate with teachers to design and implement authentic learning technology integrated lessons.

Provide in-class support for integrated lessons where necessary.

Stay current with instructional technologies as well as research, trends, and best practices.

Serve as the in-house resource for instructional technology and innovative teaching practices, and actively promote their use.
Professional Development

Identify and support faculty members to serve as instructional technology subject matter experts.

Identify technology professional development needs in the faculty and offer training sessions to address them.
Standards Alignment

Work with the Director of Technology and Division Heads to align classroom technology use with US and French curriculum technology content standards.

Design and lead a multi-year process that will document and assess technology use in the classroom.

Lead and document the implementation of the Digital Literacy and Citizenship (DigLitCit) curriculum.
Teaching

Teach Digital Life course in the Middle School (2 lessons per week).
Other
-
Develop policies to align the school with best practices and compliance requirements.

Other duties as determined by the Director of Technology.
Qualifications and desired personal qualities:
Required
-
Bachelor's degree in education, instructional technology, or related field

2 years classroom teaching experience

Demonstrated experience with instructional technology integration

Ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues

Fluidity with technologies found in typical classrooms

Mastery of Apple iOS, macOS, and Google Workspace ecosystems and related applications

Strong collaboration and organizational skills

Flexible mindset with the ability to adapt quickly

Desire to engage teachers as well as students with a proactive, positive attitude and patience
Desirable

Advanced degree in Educational Technology

Prior experience in an instructional technology role

Compensation and Benefits:
The appointment is a part-time, year-round, non-exempt position with partially-paid comprehensive health and dental plans, a 403B plan, and generous paid time off.
