Information Technology Manager
Norfolk Collegiate School is seeking an experienced and detail oriented individual to fill the position of Information Technology Manager. This candidate must have a proactive attitude, excellent organization and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. This position also requires the capability to manage employees and work effectively with vendors to ensure the smooth running of the technology aspects of the school.
The Information Technology Manager will work directly under the Director of Finance & Operations and will provide support to assure the smooth and efficient operation of the Information Technology department of the school. The Information Technology Manager is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at both the Lower and Middle/Upper School campuses. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer (faculty/staff, students, parents) as well as the support and maintenance existing application and development of new technical solutions. Interaction with students is expected, since each of the students in grades 6 through 12 is required to have an iPad.
Norfolk Collegiate School considers itself to be a leader in including technology in its curriculum and classrooms. The Information Technology Manager will work closely with the Director of Instructional Technology and Communication Arts in the implementation and support of various initiatives.
The responsibilities of the Information Technology Manager include but are not limited to the following:
• Managing daily workflow of the information technology office, including implementation and use of a help desk function
• Managing and maintaining the school’s IT infrastructure including data network, security, databases, servers, printers, and telephone systems. This includes providing first-level diagnosis and support for major infrastructure, network, and systems issues.
• Evaluating and making recommendations regarding new and emerging technologies for classroom, productivity, and administrative uses and their potential benefits to the school, which involves keeping current in the field of Information Technology
• Making recommendations and projections regarding IT system operations, including any needed updates, upgrades, or migrations; explores and makes recommendations regarding new and emerging technologies that may improve our current infrastructure, responsible for implementation of chosen items.
• Preparing technical specifications and configurations of system components or other infrastructure needs for purchasing • Managing the school’s participation in e-rate funding and managing all software licenses
• Assisting with planning, troubleshooting, and managing the technical side of the school’s website in conjunction with the Communications Manager
• Configuring and managing iPads for various iTunes accounts on both campuses
• Managing installation of infrastructure components by consulting with vendors and installers for both upgrades and new projects/construction
• Providing consultation and support for teachers, staff and students regarding technical aspects of projects, initiatives, etc.
• Managing inventory of all school-owned or leased equipment including desktops, laptops, iPads, SMART Boards, projectors, etc. This includes all of the leased copiers and printers
Experience and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field is required
• Strong written and oral communications skills are required
• Expert Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows 7, iOS and Mac OS X is required
• Experience with Blackbaud is preferred
