The Berkeley Carroll School, a dynamic and rigorous independent school in Brooklyn, NY, seeks an experienced Director of Library and Information Services.
The Director oversees a bustling shared Middle School and Upper School library that also houses the school’s technology nerve center. The Director:
Works closely with the administration to develop the library’s academic and technical resources in accordance with the School’s mission.
Supervises an Assistant Librarian and part time library assistants.
Oversees budgeting, collection development, and research instruction.
Coordinates with the technology department to manage shared resources and assist with the staffing and operation of the library knowledge bar.
Teaches an average of one period per day of Digital Essentials, a middle school technology course. The director works with technology integrators to help further develop the curriculum of this course.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of library content management systems and practices; facility with the use of innovative technology in an educational setting; a collaborative work style; diverse curricular interests; and a strong vision for the library in the 21st century. Qualified applicants will hold an MLIS or Media Specialist Degree.
