Network/Systems Manager
International School of Brooklyn is an Nursery-8th grade International
Baccalaureate and language immersion school located in Carroll Gardens,
Brooklyn. ISB offers a holistic education for the global citizen with the
academic goals of a rigorous international curriculum.
ISB is currently seeking a full time Network/Systems Manager as of July
1st, 2015. The ideal candidate will have the technical skills and ingenuity
necessary to support the school staff and students, as well as assist in
maintaining all school hardware and software. He/She will have the ability
to research and implement solutions to enable technology use that are
creative, innovative and organic to the culture of the school and relevant to
global 21st Century teaching and learning.
General Responsibilities
The Network/Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining the
technological infrastructure of the school and its secure, efficient and
effective use to support teaching, learning, and daily operations. The
ideal candidate has both education and experience as well as
demonstrated proficiency configuring, deploying, managing,
monitoring, and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, iPads, servers, and
wired and wireless networks in an apple environment. Working closely
with the Technology Coordinator, the Network/Systems Manager supports
and implements the School’s philosophy, policies, and procedures. This
position reports to the ISB Business Manager.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Tech support for OS 10.10 and OS 10.9. Troubleshoot and address
performance issues with iMacs, MacBooks, MacBook Pros, MacBook
Airs, iPads, Eno Boards, Smartboards and Canon IR Adv model
printers.
• Installation and upgrade of hardware/software on iMacs, MacBooks,
MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, iPads, Eno Boards and Smartboards
including working with outside vendors if necessary.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date and complete documentation of the school network, hardware, servers, and systems.
• Manage software installation, license renewals and upgrades on
servers.
• Create, manage, and delete Active Directory accounts as needed.
• Management and deployment of school owned equipment to faculty
and staff.
• Assist with deployment of Google Apps for Education as well as the
monitoring and maintenance of this service.
• Assist with deployment of the Casper Suite device management
system as well as the monitoring and maintenance of this service.
• Assist with first time applications for E-rate and FAMIS funding.
• Assist with managing VPP accounts for 50 iPads.
• Setup and coordination of A/V needs for special events (which
sometimes occur outside of normal working hours).
• Prioritizing work responsibilities to best prevent disruption of
pedagogical and administrative workflow.
• Other projects/tasks assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education
• Combination of education and training equivalent to a Bachelor’s
degree in Computer Science / Engineering / IT Systems field.
Experience
• Minimum 2 years in a Mac OS environment, preferable in an
educational setting.
Skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows 2012 and Apple servers• Demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory, HP ProCurve switches,
Sonicwall, Barracuda, VMware, Windows Server 2012 and Aruba
AP’s.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Follett Destiny.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Google Apps for Education.
• Demonstrated knowledge of LAN and WAN products and protocols.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications
devices and network protocols, server and desktop technologies.
• Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course
of action for technical and computer-related problems.
