Systems Administrator
Norwood School, an independent, co-educational K-8 school on 38 acres in Bethesda, Maryland is seeking an organized, dedicated, self-motivated, and reliable Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate should be energetic, willing to take initiative, willing to work in a team environment, and comfortable interacting with students, faculty/staff, and external vendors. This is a 12 month position and reports to the Director of Technology.
Responsibilities
The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining the technological infrastructure of the school. This includes monitoring, maintaining and upgrading all major components of the wired and wireless network (switches, routers, access points, and cabling), including the physical and virtual servers, security, phone, and backup systems. Provide technical support to students, faculty, staff and administrators. The Systems Administrator must be engaged and participate daily in the operations of all aspects of the school’s computers, network, and all telecommunication systems.
Monitor, manage, and report regularly on the health of the network, servers, security, backups, firewall, email (Office365 & Exchange 2010), telecommunications systems and Internet service
Maintain, modify, and monitor Office365 accounts, add-ons and services
Manage software installation and upgrades on servers
Assist in troubleshooting daily networking, software, printer and hardware problems submitted to the help desk
Maintain Active Directory environment
Serve, with Director of Technology, as technical contact to vendors when necessary and accompany and verify vendor onsite work and support
Create and/or maintain accurate and complete documentation of the network
Install, setup and maintain Windows servers and virtual servers as needed
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Combination of education and training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering / IT Systems field.
Experience
Minimum two years relevant work experience, preferably in an educational setting and mixed platform environment.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience with Windows servers, desktops, laptop products, and directory services.
Experience Imaging – SCCM preferred, but not necessary
Experience managing Office365 environment
Experience configuring/maintaining firewalls
Working knowledge of VMware/virtual servers
Demonstrable knowledge of Exchange Server 2010
Proven knowledge of LANs, WANs, and VLANs
Excellent customer service skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Whipple Hill “ON” Suite products
Advanced level experience with VMware
Experience with Blackbaud systems
Experience with iSCSI
Previous experience working in an independent school
Experience with SANs/Drobos/Network storage
