Associate Director of Analytics
The Associate Director of Analytics is a new position that will support strategic and operational planning and decision making at the Academy. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO), the Associate Director serves as a key advisor to the CFOO, the CFOO’s other directors, and other senior administrators on critical data-driven decisions.
Key objectives for the role are to:
Provide insight into Milton Academy performance relative to private secondary school and college peers on multiple dimensions, including but not limited to financial (e.g., revenue, expense, key operating ratios) and academic (e.g., student/teacher ratios, supportive learning resources) metrics;
Consult with administrative leaders to develop new or refine existing initiatives, especially those related to the strategic plan, as well as examine current practices and approaches to core activities;
Identify scenarios, create models, synthesize findings, and develop recommendations to help leadership make management decisions related to both of the above.
Examples of the types of projects this position would support over time are provided in the list below:
Lead the development of business plans for strategic plan-related initiatives, including solidifying objectives, milestones, resources/costs, timing, and other implementation details;
Identify external benchmarking sources and determine how best to analyze each of Milton Academy’s three academic divisions within that context;
Determine how salary and benefits analytics can be best optimized to support decision making;
Work with development to estimate revenue streams and their impact on endowment payouts for operations, given multiple market return scenarios;
In collaboration with facilities services, develop tools to support annual and long term capital project planning for buildings, equipment, and vehicles;
Advise on the analysis of survey data (employee, parent, student);
Compare endowment and other spending policies with peers;
Advise on the adoption of processes and tools that enhance information and/or analytic efficiency;
Support training for members of the community on business analytical tools, including but not limited to Excel and Powerpoint.
The individual sought must be a self-starter and exhibit the following traits:

Comfort in communicating complex findings and recommendations, both verbally and in writing;
Knowledge of multiple analytical methods and tools, ranging from financial to survey to market analysis;
Ability to meet deadlines and manage projects with limited oversight, while ensuring that project sponsors are aware of progress and involved at key decision points;
Desire to be a part of a dynamic educational community.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelors’ degree, with a MBA or other advanced professional degree preferred. The successful candidate must be a sophisticated user of relational databases, Excel, PowerPoint, and have experience developing and delivering executive level presentations. External or internal consulting experience is preferred.
