Position: 

The Academic Technology Manager has front-line responsibility for hardware and software used to create a robust learning environment for students and faculty. Reporting to the Information and Education Technology Director and in collaboration with the members of the technology team, the registrar, the Middle and High School section teams, and others, the Academic Technology Manager drives the selection and implementation of tools for learning, productivity, assessment, and progress reporting in the classroom and other learning environments. Focusing primarily on students and faculty in the Middle and High Schools, this role also includes management of key all-school solutions. The successful candidate will balance innovation with scaffolding and support for growth, will put the student experience at the center of all initiatives, and will uphold the school’s Mission, Values, and Commitment to Equity in all aspects of their work. 

 

Focus and  Responsibilities: 

  • Drive the effective educational use of core systems, including Google Workspace tools, Blackbaud, learning management systems, and others
  • Assess and address the hardware needs of faculty to support classroom teaching and other educational functions
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty in selecting and implementing software for their specific instructional needs, keeping in mind educational outcomes, usability, and security and privacy
  • Manage and maintain devices owned by the school for use by Middle School students, and provide direct support to students in using their devices effectively and appropriately
  • Plan and lead onboarding as well as ongoing professional learning for faculty to foster effective use of our educational technology and ensure data security and privacy
  • Create and maintain user-facing support and training materials as well as back-end documentation for educational technology tools
  • Foster the implementation of technology tools and infrastructure to maximize productivity, collaboration, and usability for faculty and staff in delivering our programs and to ensure continuity and integrity of programs, processes, and data when employees transition out of our school
  • In collaboration with the Director, provide strategic guidance and direction for educational and productivity tools for the learning environment, including generative AI
  • In collaboration with the Academic Technology Coordinator, the library team, classroom teachers, and others, plan and facilitate implementation of technology education for students across grade levels, including basic navigation and trouble-shooting skills, a cohesive digital citizenship and media literacy program, and other areas as identified
  • Supervise the IT Support Specialist to ensure support of all school hardware, including technology needs for events as well as management of Middle School student devices
  • Oversee the Google Workspace tools and Google IDs for all school constituencies
  • Participate actively in the common tasks of the technology team, including the planning, implementation, outsourcing, integration, maintenance, upgrades and replacement, and ongoing operations of technology and data resources
  • Foster a customer-service and growth-oriented culture within the team and close collaborators
  • With the Director, manage the educational technology budget with an eye toward maximizing return on investment of financial and operational resources
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, advanced degree desirable
  • Experience with technology planning and implementation
  • Experience of school setting strongly preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

 

Salary range for this position is $110,000-$120,000 depending on experience and qualifications
