Computer Science Teacher (Programming and STEAM)
York House School, located in the heart of Vancouver, is one of Canada’s leading independent schools for girls. Founded in 1932 by seven progressive and insightful women, York House provides an exceptional education for approximately 650 girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. Overview of PositionYork House School is inviting applications from compassionate, innovative and qualified Computer Science teacher committed to providing an exceptional 21st century learning environment for our girls. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative and passionate about programming, creating interdisciplinary real-world projects to engage our students in their learning. From introducing programming to girls to supporting and empowering programming enthusiasts, the candidate will have an interest in pursuing where and how programming and STEAM initiatives can enrich student learning in Grades 8 through 12, both in and out of the classroom. This individual will also fulfill the role of Teacher Advisor each day and will have opportunities to be involved in the co-curricular activities that enhance students’ experiences at school.Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education;
- Computer Science degree or other equivalent credits;
- Experience teaching Science and/or Math will be considered an asset;
- British Columbia Teachers certification or equivalent;
- Secondary school qualifications;
- Five years of Secondary teaching experience is preferable;
- Independent School experience is an asset;
- Experience robotics program is an asset;
- Experience teaching Advanced Placement courses is an asset.
