Robotics/Technology Teacher
Position Available: Blair Academy seeks an experienced Robotics/Technology teacher for employment beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. Candidates must enjoy working with adolescents and possess an exceptional work ethic, strong communication skills, a commitment to collegiality and a sense of humor. Strong preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree in computer science and/or engineering and five years of teaching experience. Candidates must be able to teach robotics, programming and other technology-focused electives as well as have technical expertise in the essential tools for these courses, like 3D printers and Lego robotics. The position includes dormitory duty and extra-curricular activities.
Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a growing robotics program, both during the school day and in extracurricular activities. In addition to robotics, the candidate will have the opportunity to teach courses in computer science and/or technology and provide input on the development of Blair’s upcoming Center for Innovation and Collaboration. The candidate will be responsible for the management, oversight and development of the Makerspace facilities at Blair, working in conjunction with the academic leadership of the school to integrate technology and design throughout the curriculum.
School Setting: Blair Academy is a co-ed, 9-PG boarding school located in rural northwestern New Jersey, approximately one hour west of New York City. The school is 75%-80% boarding, possesses fine facilities and faculty housing, and is committed to the continuing education of the faculty.
