Middle School Computer Science Teacher and Technology Coordinator
Glenelg Country School seeks a full-time team-oriented, innovative Middle School Computer Science teacher and Technology Coordinator for the 2016/2017 academic year beginning in August. The position allows considerable scope for creativity, but the ideal candidate is an energetic self-starter who will:
• Continue to develop and teach Middle School computer science and robotics classes in alignment with the Upper and Lower divisions
• Work closely with students and teachers to support divisional STEAM initiatives, including development of a new engineering and design innovation space
• Collaborate with librarians to integrate information and media literacy across this curriculum; this includes Internet safety, digital citizenship, and online research skills
• Collaborate with teachers to develop technology-rich lessons and provide faculty professional development to this end
The position includes a robust advisory role, oversight of a daily activity, and other duties and responsibilities consistent with full engagement in the life of an independent school. Meeting diverse student needs and forging supportive faculty-student relationships are cornerstones of the Middle School, so an outgoing personality and aptitude for working with adolescents are a must.
