Technology Support Specialist
FLSA Classification: Salary Non-Exempt
Reports to: Technology Director
Position Summary:
The Technology Support Specialist provides end-user support for The Post Oak’s community. Perform all aspects of desktop support including installation and configuration of computers, hardware problem diagnosis and repair, application installation, and assist with network connectivity troubleshooting. This position requires 40 hours per week, work hours will vary, evening and/or weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to the following):
- Responsible for assisting, in person or remotely, all users and students with their questions about any of our supported software and computing platforms in accordance with current procedures in a professional and courteous manner
- Day to day administration of laptop programs, software programs, installation, maintenance and upgrades of various application software
- Maintenance and upkeep of all computes, laptops, tablets, phones, printer, etc.
- Providing technology and audio/visual setup and support for all school events
- Evaluate work load and capacity of computer systems to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer operations
- Assisting the Technology Director with research, testing, and planning for new purchases
- Interfacing with consultants and support companies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the patience and ability to provide technical support to individuals with a wide range of technological expertise and skill levels on various platforms. Qualifications include:
- Excellent research and problem solving skills, accurately analyzing a situation and utilizes creative problem solving in a timely manner
- Strong knowledge of Windows (Desktop/Server), Mac OS, Chrome OS, and mobile platforms (iOS and Android)
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized
Required Experience/Education:
- High school diploma and 2 years college/trade school/associate degree
- One year of experience working in an education environment
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- The ability to lift at least 30 pounds
- The ability to, at times, work standing, lifting and kneeling for extended periods
- The ability to work in shared space
Desirable (not required)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience evaluating systems and applications technical requirements, planning, implementing and supporting critical systems and applications in an education environment
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
