As a member of the Educational Initiatives unit within the Phillips Academy Technology Office, the ID Specialist works in a team environment to help faculty subject matter experts realize their visions for online and hybrid courses, modules, and materials. The person will play a key role in the development, implementation, testing, evaluation, and process documentation for a range of projects, including Hybrid@Andover through the Tang Institute. Working closely with and reporting directly to the Associate Director for Educational Initiatives, the ID Specialist also encourages and supports the pedagogically sound integration of technology in face-to-face courses.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE 

  • Undergraduate degree required, and Master’s degree preferred, in Education or a related field; minimum of 3 years of curriculum design, instructional design, and/or use of technology in the K12 classroom; 
  • Demonstrated experience and success in a collaborative design environment; 
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Learning Management Systems, including Canvas, multimedia software and web-based interactive tools, and online course development; 
  • Experience with project management, especially the development and documentation of best practices and standards. 
  • Exceptional communicative and interpersonal skills; 
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring both the ability to take direction and the willingness to self-start; 
  • Passion for technology and schools; experience as K12 classroom teacher 
  • Appreciation for the mission and culture of Phillips Academy.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

  • Collaborate with faculty on instructional design for online and hybrid courses, create customized web-based instructional elements, and manage online course development 
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and instructional staff to test and document new and revised online and hybrid courses and stand-alone web-based content 
  • Support instructors across the Academy to implement pedagogically sound uses of technology to address instructional challenges and pursue learning goals 
  • Communicate about school-based efforts in teaching with technology within the Academy community 
  • Create and provide resources in various formats to meet identified and emerging technological and pedagogical needs across the Academy 
  • Research and remain current on technology advancements, emerging trends in educational uses of technology and associated advances in pedagogy.
