Server Development/Cloud Computing Faculty

Community College of Philadelphia is an open-admission, associate-degree-granting institution which provides access to higher education for all who may benefit. The Computer Technologies department invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to teach various Server Development/Cloud Computing Technology Courses for the 2017-2018 academic year.

• Develop and/or teach Server Side Development courses, and other Computer Courses as assigned.

• Manage hardware and software used in class.

• Develop, implement, revise and maintain courses and curricula.

• Develop and implement student retention-related activities, and participate in articulation with four-year schools and outreach with area high schools.

• Participate in the intellectual life of the department, and a willingness to participate in the life of the College through leadership in department and college-wide committees.

• A Master’s degree or higher in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering, or a closely related field with at least 18 credits in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering required.

• Ability to develop and/or teach Server Side Development courses:
o Java Script
o Ajax
o Node JS
o Angular JS
o Rails, Ruby on Rails
o jQuery
o Enterprise Java Technologies
o building micro-services, using Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other Commercial Web Services
o Other Computer Courses as assigned, including CIS 106 (Python) and CIS 103 – Applied Computer Technology.

• Relevant professional experience required.

• Recent demonstrated teaching experience required.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.

• Willingness to manage hardware and software used in class required.

• Willingness to develop, implement, revise and maintain courses and curricula.

• Willingness to develop and implement student retention-related activities, and participate in articulation with four-year schools and outreach with area high schools.

• Commitment to participating in the intellectual life of the department, and a willingness to participate in the life of the College through leadership in department and college-wide committees.

• Teaching experience at a community college preferred.

• Competence in online teaching preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses in micro systems architecture application design and deployment, and Big Data processing preferred.
