Information Technology Manager

Somerset College is a leading independent, co-educational day and boarding school offering schooling from Grade 000 to Matric – IEB and Cambridge AS and A-levels. Founded in 1997, Somerset College is a welcoming, vibrant school situated in the beautiful Cape Winelands.

The College seeks to employ an Information Technology (IT) Manager who will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of all computer hardware, software and systems.

Commencement Date: 1 January 2017.

The successful candidate must:

• Be a good leader who drives the IT strategy of the College
• Have a deep knowledge of a wide variety of technologies, hardware, systems, applications, solutions and hosted services
• Be service orientated through understanding and achieving a high level of customer satisfaction
• Liaise between students, staff and the IT Department by translating user needs into suitable, cost effective, practical solutions
• Compile, motivate and manage the IT budget and investment
• Have a good knowledge of SLAs and contracts
• Foster good relationships with suppliers and service providers
• Manage the IT Helpdesk as well as the biometric design and maintenance
• Be involved with campus development projects that require IT solutions
• Manage and ensure compliance to all IT related policies, procedures and guidelines
• Do regular research and development to ensure that the College stays up to date with the latest technologies
• Lead initiatives and try out new technologies
• Manage the staff within the IT department
• Have excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills
• Be passionate and enthusiastic about IT
• Have exceptional attention to detail
• Be engaged in the school activities
