Cedarville University is seeking to hire an AVP/Chief Information Officer (CIO) as the primary employee charged with setting the strategic direction for technology for the University. The CIO effectively analyzes the technology requirements of the various departments and divisions within the University and determines appropriate methods for addressing those requirements. The CIO also ensures that technology fully supports the University mission and objectives.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  •  Establishes the objectives, priorities, and plans for technology at the University in cooperation with University Leadership
  • Develops appropriate budgets, staffing, and operating procedures to implement the University’s technology plans
  • Works with the CFO, academic chairs and deans, and the Center for Teaching and Learning to ensure that appropriate technology resources are provided for the accomplishment of the academic mission of the University
  • Ensures that the University has the adequate and appropriate equipment, network, software, and technology infrastructure to support the needs of all University constituents
  • Chairs the (internal) technology planning committee, determines membership, sets agendas and leads discussions
  • Chairs the (external) technology advisory council, determines membership in cooperation with the Vice President for Advancement and sets the agenda for the annual meeting
  • Cultivates relationships with information technology leaders locally and nationally
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in information technology and in higher education
  • Serves as the Information Technology department manager, particularly in the areas of planning, budgeting, and staff development
  • Supervises the department directors and the assistant chief information officer
  • Ensures University compliance with applicable regulations regarding information security and privacy and that University confidential or private data is adequately protected

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced degree in information systems, computer science, business or related field
  • Evidence of success in leadership positions
  • Demonstrated professional growth within an information systems work environment
  • Eight – ten years minimum experience in information systems work environment
  •  Minimum of five years’ experience managing a technology team or department
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian
