Develops technology plans and directs the implementation of approved administrative and instructional delivery systems, data and telecommunication networks. Organizes, sets performance goals for, and directs the activities of technical support staff to support the ongoing efficient operation of District technology systems and networks. Supervises assigned personnel and directs the operations of the Marana Unified School District’s Technology Department. Responsible for capacity planning and for making recommendations to meet the needs and growth of the district.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: |

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops long-range visionary strategic plans for technical administrative and instructional systems, and network infrastructure; develops tactical plans and directs the implementation of the approved plans
- Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Technology Department including administration, systems maintenance, and technology support.
- Monitors and ensures the proper functioning, reliability, and security of the Marana Unified School District’s (MUSD) computer network and related equipment.
- Develops, implements, and administers technology related policies and procedures; ensures compliance with applicable laws, administrative regulations, and Governing Board policies.
- Manage capital and operating budgets to support the ongoing operation and anticipated growth and upgrades.
- Select, organize, and develops an outstanding and highly motivated technical support staff.
- Develop a Professional Development Plan and coordinate department and District-wide training and professional development on the use of technology.
- Set and measure strenuous, but attainable goals for the department. Perform consistent and timely completion of performance appraisals.
- Supervises the operation and maintenance of the MUSD network and data infrastructure including wide area network (WAN) and local area network (LAN) connections, servers, security equipment, computers, and peripherals.
- Oversees, coordinates, and participates in network administration and troubleshooting functions; diagnoses and/or repairs computer network issues.
- Serves as a resource for District staff for the purpose of keeping them informed on computer hardware and software that is available and the relationship of emerging technologies to curriculum and administrative tasks.
- Establish and administer hardware and software for maintenance agreements. Negotiate vendor contracts to secure advantageous pricing on products and services.
- Ensures the technological requirements of District departments, schools, and/or other end users are being met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and serves on various committees as assigned.
- Leads and implements the District’s E-Rate program to assure maximum funding through Federal Schools and Library’s Division.
- Prepares and maintains departmental records, reports, and documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of information technology administration.
- Information technology systems and related equipment.
- Methods and techniques used for troubleshooting technology issues.
- Network administration principles and practices.
Required Knowledge of (continued):
- Processes for preparing and administering budgets.
- Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
Required Skill in:
- Directing and coordinating the District’s information technology operations.
- Ensuring the proper functioning, connectivity, and security of the District’s technology systems.
- Evaluating technology requirements, coordinating with end users, and developing long-term plans.
- Administering and maintaining the District’s computer network and related equipment.
- Developing and administering budgets and monitoring expenditure.
- Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field, and five years experience directing information technology operations within a K-12 environment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
