The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning seeks a flexible, energetic and productive teammate to support the development of innovation in digital learning. The Digital Learning Design (DLD) team works with faculty to design and develop new and effective online, blended, and other digital learning content that is delivered to learners on campus and beyond.
 

Job Purpose

 

Work with the Associate Directors of Instructional Design (AD IDs), faculty, and other team members to manage instructional design projects and processes as well as to apply design principles to the development of course materials. Responsibilities will vary depending on the project’s stage of development, as well as the level of need, involvement, and assistance each faculty member requires. All instructional design duties are in collaboration with Associate Directors of Instructional Design (AD IDs), faculty, and other team members.

 
Core Duties 
  • Perform the full range of the project management cycle (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing) for DLD team generated courses and workshops. On these projects, lead cross-functional integration and develop content.
  • Full-cycle project management of the creation of a dashboard for surfacing instructional design processes, policies, accomplishments, and capacity.
  • Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete instructional design projects. When team capacity is low, hire and supervise instructional design casuals and interns.
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus for processes and procedures around course construction, legal issues, instructional design metrics, and team capacity.
  • Manage and maintain reports on policies and precedents for mitigation of legal and other risks associated with courses and programs.
  • Analyze and apply instructional goals and objectives to the design, development, and implementation of online/blended course content. 
  • Write and develop instructional objectives, lessons, assessments, and other course materials in collaboration and consultation with faculty and team members. 
  • Collaborate and communicate with faculty and AD IDs on selection of appropriate instructional technologies, delivery strategies, and pedagogy.  
  • Review content for compliance with Stanford policies, obtain appropriate licenses, disclaimers, and permissions when needed), and facilitate communication between project team members to ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience

 


Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.  Experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity with limited performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a computer; use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, write by hand, sort/file paperwork.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.

Working Conditions

  • Travel on campus to schools/units.
