The Digital Engagement Strategist is responsible for ensuring that the school’s website, social media presence, and digital marketing campaigns are visually compelling, engaging, and effective with target audiences. The position reports to the Director of Marketing and requires a collaborative partner, innovative thinker, and adaptable decision maker.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in a wide range of digital areas including website design, SEO, Google analytics, digital marketing strategy, website architecture, social media, content marketing, and CMS management. This role serves as an innovator to support the school’s marketing and enrollment goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the website including updating content, building websites, streamlining site architecture, and implementing dynamic content.
  • Apply technical solutions to develop an integrated digital marketing strategy.
  • Analyze web traffic data and prepare reports highlighting key information, trends, and opportunities understandable to those with a non-technical background.
  • Research and apply new trends to enhance the user experience and increase engagement.
  • Provide continual assessment, analytic reporting, and optimization.
  • Utilize Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) tools and build into the website.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the Worcester Academy community to implement new storytelling strategies on the website and through social media.
  • Create dashboards that highlight key data, trends, and opportunities to those with a non-technical background.
  • Identify and cultivate potential external digital partnerships and leverage existing digital partners.
  • Write, edit, and publish engaging and audience-focused content for the school’s website and social media platforms to build relationships, stimulate engagement, and raise visibility.
  • Create digital graphics such as banners, custom images, icons, ads, and photos for daily social media content, the school website, and campaigns.
  • Implement social media contests to increase engagement and build school pride.
  • Monitor the school’s online reputation and conversations across social media platforms and consult with the Director of External Communications as needed to respond in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Attend school events, take photos, and post timely content on social media channels and the website. Make arrangements for additional coverage as needed.

Experience and Skills:

Education: B.S. in Marketing, Business, Communications, or Computer Science; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in web strategy, multichannel content development, and social media.

  • Experience with Blackbaud and/or Finalsite platforms is desired
  • Experience working with Hootsuite
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, creative, cross-functional team environment (administrators, faculty, and students)
  • Experience in and knowledge of SEM, SEO, website analytics tools (Google Analytics), and Google Adwords
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with website usability, responsive (mobile), email engagement, and social media strategy
  • A team player with exceptional organizational and communication skills with proven ability to communicate technical strategies clearly and effectively
  • Strong writing, editing, project management, and communication skills
  • Experience creating email campaigns and e-newsletters
  • Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator
  • HTML, CSS, and programming language experience is desired.
  • Must have an aesthetic eye for design and creative
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task by setting priorities and meeting deadlines

Physical Requirements

  • Hear, see, and speak to effectively communicate in-person and by telephone with supervisors, staff, and external contacts.
  • Must be able to navigate around walking campus in all weather elements
  • Ability to lift at least 20 pounds
  • Comfortable with sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time throughout the day
