Director of Technology & Infrastructure - Information Technology
From K – 12, technology is an integral part of learning. At Punahou School, the Information Technology (IT) department strives to create an environment where access to and support for digital information, tools, devices and rich learning opportunities are fully integrated throughout the K – grade 12 environment. The IT team designs, builds, maintains and enhances technology for students and staff enabling them to effectively utilize current and emerging technologies as tools for effective learning.
Punahou School is actively recruiting a Director of Technology & Infrastructure to join the IT team. The Director of Technology & Infrastructure will be responsible for Punahou School’s enterprise technology standardization, deployment, monitoring, maintenance and support of all enterprise hardware, application software, networking and telecommunications systems. The Director will participate in strategizing, planning, designing, implementing and supporting network, IT data center, information systems, and IT infrastructure operations and all related business processes necessary to manage and support the School’s information technology platforms. The Director will provide leadership and vision for the IT infrastructure across the enterprise and for translating that vision into highly reliable, easy to maintain and cost effective platform. The scope of the position includes data center, servers, storage, information security, operations, disaster recovery, telecommunications, networking and mobile systems. System related scope including service management and information technology, educational and business office information systems. The Director will ensure information systems are architected to meet business requirements includes the development of roadmaps necessary to support Punahou’s current and near-future business requirements. The Director will drive the roadmap to streamline, standardize and strengthen infrastructure security, business continuity and disaster recovery while achieving substantive improvement in performance, reliability, robustness and scalability across the technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be a thought-leader who will design and deliver the transformation of the School’s foundational infrastructure and operations platforms to drive a superior user experience while enabling significant advancement in mobility, collaboration, and productivity.

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field ; or equivalent work experience.

Seven (7) years of managerial experience leading teams in at least two IT disciplines (such as Security, Storage/Computing infrastructure architecture, Network Engineering, Internet Service Provider, data networking) in a large company environment.

Deep knowledge of infrastructure technologies, data center, server, virtualization, storage, network, voice, and disaster recovery/business continuity.

Experience with cloud infrastructure/platform services.

Multi-platform hardware and software technologies

Understand of application management and monitoring systems

Network Management

Availability to understand and direct capacity management

Data security, disaster recovery, and contingency planning

Integration and use of Cloud, PAAS, and IAAS technologies
- General knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Load Balancing, TCP/IP and VoIP.
