St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as Educational Technologist. The Educational Technologist is an important member of the Technology Department and reports directly to the Director of Technology.

The Educational Technologist will provide support and guidance in technology curriculum development and integration, teacher training, and instructional program design to enhance the student experience. The person in this position will help faculty members grow their technology skills and expand their understanding of how technology can enhance learning and impact each student’s future. Collaborating with faculty members, the Educational Technologist will assess educational needs and match those needs with appropriate technologies.

Understanding how technologies are actually used in a classroom setting is best developed through teaching experience; therefore, prior teaching experience is preferred. This position, which begins on July 1, 2017, requires using current and emerging technologies to support student learning and the classroom teaching experience. Part of the Educational Technologist’s job is technology support, such as troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software. The ideal Educational Technologist candidate should have excellent communication skills, be a driven problem solver, and possess a well-developed knowledge of technology. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master's degree in Educational Technology or a related field is preferred.

Primary Functions:

  • Guide and support teachers, staff, and other stakeholders in developing and implementing programs that support learning through technology integration
  • Facilitate projects, trainings, workshops, and demonstrations in support of technology use and curriculum integration
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons to students in grades 5-8
  • Develop, model, and promote innovative and interesting lessons that encourage the effective use of technology in instruction
  • Serve as a resource in the following areas, including, but not limited to:

○      technical support

○      account creation

○      inventory and usage documentation

○      setup and support of meetings, presentation, and events

  • Computer applications, coding, 3D design and printing, and teaching methodologies
