The Database Manager oversees the Raiser’s Edge database, with a focus on data integrity and analysis, to maximize philanthropic income and to build relationships with the School’s constituents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage all aspects of the Raiser's Edge database, including data accuracy, updates and corrections.
2. Collaborate on a regular basis with School’s Technology office to perform Raiser’s Edge database maintenance and global updates, as well as the Registrar’s office to ensure streamline integration with Education Edge.
3. Work with the Business office to produce reports and assist with the monthly financial reconciliation process.
4. Implement and enforce development policies, such as gift processing policies, data entry policies, and reporting guidelines.
5. Oversee, and serve as backup for, the processing and acknowledgement of all gifts, pledges and pledge payments to the School. Ensure timely entry of all gifts into Raiser’s Edge and prompt delivery of acknowledgment letters and tax receipts to donors. Generates, schedules, and mails pledge reminders to donors.
6. Designs and implements database queries, exports, and reports as requested. Provides updated reports on gifts, pledges, progress towards fundraising goals, and other financial data as requested either through regularly scheduled updates or upon request.
7. Develops and produces mailing lists and labels, donor recognition lists, data files, prospective donor lists, and other information using Raiser’s Edge reporting tools for the Annual Fund, Spring Event fundraisers, capital campaigns, Crossroads, and other mailings.
8. Effectively utilizes Raiser’s Edge, Crystal Reports, Excel, Word and other software programs to capture, retrieve, calculate and report data or manage fundraising lists.
9. Prepares the donor recognition lists for the School’s Annual Report.
10. Work with Senior Database Manager to assess needs of the Advancement Office and current database architecture in order to develop strategic long-term and short-term projects.
11. Ensures confidentiality of Raiser’s Edge data including addresses and donor records.
12. Develops and implements ongoing plans to improve the integrity of the database, particularly information on alumni.
13. Ensures that gift agreements have been executed for all multi-year pledges.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Three to five years Raiser’s Edge database management
2. Extremely detail oriented
3. Experience analyzing and manipulating data
4. Advanced Excel skills
5. Outstanding organizational and communication skills
6. Knowledge of networking and telecommunications technologies and the ability to assess the latest developments and potential effectiveness for use in fundraising
7. Knowledge of direct mail, phonathons, and fundraising techniques, ideally in an independent school context
8. Understanding of the operations of sophisticated data management systems
9. Ability to teach technical information in workshop, tutorial and one-on-one situations
10. Familiarity with MS Office tools
11. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
12. Ability to work with people at all levels
13. Bachelor’s degree in computer or information science or related experience mandatory
