Director of Technology
First Baptist Academy is seeking a Director of Technology who is responsible for overseeing the technology department and supporting the migration of technology into the curriculum. This position will focus on the development, implementation, operation, monitoring and evaluation of the school infrastructure and will provide leadership in identifying hardware and software purchases. This individual works collaboratively with the school community members to improve their ability and efficiency of technology usage on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for the technology department.
- Manages the planning, coordination, implementation, procurement, installation, operation and maintenance of the school networks.
- Manages technical budgets, allocates resources, and determines appropriate project schedules.
- Manages and maintains School Information Management System and all integrated software applications and LMS portals.
- Manages the overall acquisition of hardware and software.
- Evaluate hardware and software for potential use in instructional or administrative areas.
- Manage and promote the one to one laptop program in Middle School.
- Prepares and monitors related contracts with outside vendors, and agencies.
- Meets and consults with school administrators on the development, maintenance and effectiveness of data applications; and develops and maintains effective communications and working relationships with administrators in each school.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Network computing environment concepts and network infrastructure.
- Personal computer hardware and software.
- Relational database structures.
- Budget preparation and administration.
- Strategic planning and project management.
- Computing, data processing, data communications, and software applications.
- Principles and practices of personnel supervision and training.
- Develop and articulate long term strategic plans.
- Remain current on technology advancements, emerging standards and regulations, and industry trends relevant to the school's ongoing success. Stay abreast of major information technology initiatives across peer schools, incorporating them whenever they may further the school's mission.
- Express complex ideas clearly and accurately both orally and in writing.
- Assign duties, supervise and evaluate the work of a technical staff.
- Analyze complex problems and recommend solutions.
- Evaluate computing requirements and user needs and advise on appropriate hardware and software configurations.
- Conduct meetings and make presentations.
- Maintain an attitude that encourages teamwork and personal responsibility.
- Direct the training of staff.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technology management of multiple team members, preferably in an educational environment.
- Experience in managing technology infrastructure requirements and components for LAN's, WAN's and the Internet
- Extensive working knowledge of computer hardware, software, peripherals, and related technologies as they apply to PK-8 education
- Experience in working with School Information Management Systems and integrated software.
- Skills in budget preparation and management and the ability to adhere to and operate within budgetary guidelines.
- Strong project management skills.
